Ibn Tofail is a physician and Muslim scholar who lived in Andalusia and Morocco between 1110 and 1185.Al Orjouzah Fi Atteb is his main work in the medical field. In this medical work, Ibn Tofail based its reasoning on the theory of humours.He treats them several medical specialties. Writing in the form of a poem, the precise descriptions and comparisons of teaching methods are used by Ibn Tofail to facilitate learning and transmission of medical knowledge of the time. Among the various chapters of urology treated by the author, we chose to analyze the first four:
1) Kidney pain: Ibn Tofail conducting a topographic classification while detailing semiotics and differential diagnosis. It concludes with a treatment based on plants and bleeding.
2) Renal tumors: after topographic and etiologic classification, Ibn Tofail also discusses the case of abscess. The proposed treatment groups: bleeding, bandages,
dressings, recovery is fundamental complement treatment.
– Ulcers: diagnosis is based on both the functional symptoms reported by the patient as well as signs found by the physician himself.The treatment involves cleaning, healing and analgesic.
3) Stones: the richest chapter by pathophysiological details and variance depending on the age, gender and the context.
Treatment includes more plants, special maneuvers described and whose effectiveness is proven recently (postural therapy). The analysis of the work Al Orjouza a scientific way in the light of current knowledge, has allows us to discover how was the extent of our Muslim scholars, their sense of reasoning and the art of education, which further demonstrates their roles in the different advanced sciences.
