PROJET DE BANQUE D’OS AU MAROC

The bone bank is defined as a public health institution that organizes the removal, collection, security, processing, distribution and traceability of bone allografts. Currently, there is no bone bank in Morocco. There are many cases that require bone allografts, and their absence is a public health problem. Many surgeons are faced with the problem of lack of preserved bones, and are forced to transfer their patients abroad. The bone bank would allow them to expand their therapeutic possibilities, including tumor and prosthetic surgery, thereby reducing the flow of patients referred to foreign service due to the absence of a bone bank within the country. The establishment of a bone bank in Morocco must be made a priority, and the creation of this institution seems feasible by the CHU Hassan II Hospital in Fez. This work evaluates the feasibility and cost of creating a bank at the Hassan II Hospital in Fez. We were interested in considering legislative, human and financial factors. The university hospital meets almost all the necessary conditions: Law no. 16 -98 passed in 1999, supplemented by Dahir no. 26-05 passed in 2006, promotes transplantation activity of human tissue from living donors and deceased donors. The rules of good collection practices of human tissues and organs have been developed. The orthopedic team at the CHU Hassan II hospital is in favor of the creation of a bone bank. However, sites for sampling, conservation, and securing of bone grafts still do not exist and should be created within the hospital. This work evaluates the various steps needed to create a bone bank in Morocco inspired by the French model
