Erysipelas is an acute bacterial infection of the dermis and hypodermis, mainly due to β hemolytic streptococcus of A group. it is considered as a real public health problem. Actually, the epidemiology of erysipelas is little known in Morocco. So, we conducted a retrospective study, which has allowed the analysis of 113 cases of erysipelas brought together at the dermatology department of the Military Hospital My Ismail in Meknes from January 1st, 2008 to December 31st, 2013. The purpose of this work is to study the epidemiological, clinical and evolutionary profile, and to clear up the methods of care in our country, by
comparing our series to those already published and by considering the latest data from the medical literature. The annual average incidence is about18 cases, and the seasonal distribution shows an estivo-autumnal ascendancy. It is pathology of adult whose average age is 51.31 +/- 13.80 with a male predominance related to selection bias. General and locoregional predisposing factors as well as the front door are often found. The main localizations are lower limbs with 90.35%. The face is affected only in 7.02% that confirms the decrease of the erysipelas of the face. The diagnosis was based on anamnestic and clinical arguments. The penicillin was the treatment of 1st intention with a favorable evolution in all case. A long-term antibiotic prophylaxis was prescribed for some patients. The recurrence rate was significantly low compared to the other series of the literature, this seems directly bound to predisposing factors and carelessness of the front door. Consequently, it is an affection whose immediate prognosis remains satisfactory. Furthermore, tends to recur plays a part in the attributable morbidity of this affection, which allow a renewed interest in this pathology
