La folliculite fibreuse de la nuque (A propos de 26 cas) expérience du service de dermatologie à l’hôpital militaire Moulay Ismail de Meknès

The fibrous folliculitis neck is a chronic inflammation of the hair follicle that does not have a clear etiopathogeny. It affects the young adult males and its diagnosis is clinical. Although it doesn’t involve the prognosis of the patient, the FFN causes esthetic and moral damages. We conducted a retrospective descriptive study of epidemiological, clinical, therapeutic and outcome profiles of fibrous folliculitis neck, about 26 cases recruited between January 2005 and December 2014 at dermatology service of Military Hospital Moulay Ismail Meknes. The average age of our patients was 40 years with a male predominance of 92%. Due to previous consultations, the mean duration of symptoms was 4 years. Shaving was the contributing factor found. Besides the medical therapy, only the surgical treatment, when it is needed, allows a correction of the scar area. Thus, the dermatologist should evaluate the psychological profile of the patient, explain the advantages and disadvantages of each treatment method and evaluate the immediate aesthetic result while taking into account the evolution of a possible scarring alopecia. The shaving stop, the elimination of every irritation of the neck and proper hygiene are simple tips and an essential step to maintain a good quality of life
