Smoking, real public health problem remains the leading cause of preventable morbidity and mortality, which in our days, starts at an early age and evolves as an epidemic. However, it is entirely possible to oppose the health and social consequences of this global scourge by acting on means of prevention The objective of this study is to obtain information through a self-written questionnaire on knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of students towards smoking in the province of Nador. This is a transverse survey descriptive and analytical which was conducted with students of the province of Nador . It involved three school levels (elementary, middle, and secondary), and was focused on students between the ages of 8 and 18 years whose response rate was 99,5%. The prevalence of students who already have tried smoking (even one or two puffs) is 6,6%, 3,8% are current smokers, 2,8% use tobacco products other than cigarettes (chicha, sniff, cigar …) and 2.3% use other smokeless tobacco products, 8,7% started smoking before the age of 10 years. Indeed we identified two key determinants of youth smoking behavior: Students age 15 to 18 years (OR=6,43); Students with smoking friends (OR=30,17). Other studies made by the pulmonology department of the university hospital Hassan II of Fez revealed several determinants mainly: The male sex. Students age. The level of education. Students with parental smoking. Students with smoking friends. Students who think that boys smokers have more friends. Students who think that boys smokers are more attractive. Students who think that smoking provides comfort. We made recommendations in the light of objective data from our study and others made by the pulmonology department of the University Hospital of Fez, which can serve as a basis for any strategy for tobacco control to the students in our country.
