La prise en charge des tumeurs du rein expérience du service d’oncologie médicale (A propos de 23 cas)

Kidney cancer accounts for 2 to 3 % of adult malignancies. It is the third most common urological malignancy after prostate and bladder cancer. Renal cell carcinoma is the most common type of kidney cancer in adults. It is often found in approximately 70 % of cases. The advent of modern imaging techniques such as Computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has facilitated topographic diagnosis and staging of the tumor. The treatment of renal cancer has been revolutionized by the development of laparoscopic conservative surgery, minimally invasive techniques (radiofrequency and cryotherapy) and anti-angiogenic therapy recently introduced into the market. We now have ample time to assess the impact of these treatments on the disease. Our study will describe the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical , therapeutic results and evolution of patients with this disease by using an analytical retrospective study of a series of 23 patients undergoing follow up for kidney tumors at the Medical Oncology in the University Hospital Hassan II of Fez between February 2009 and December 2013, Our study confirms that renal cancer, primarily metastatic renal cancer which has had a very poor prognosis for years, is now a cancer with a much better prognosis and a longer overall survival rate marked by an improvement in the quality of life although side effects remain
