LAPATHOLOGIE HEMORROIDAIRE CHEZ LES MEDECINS ARABO-MUSULMANS AVICENNE ET ABDESLAMEL ALAMI COMME EXEMPLE (ETUDE DESCRIPTIVE, ANALYTIQUE, COMPARATIVE

The Hemorrhoid disease is very common and known since antiquity. It was given clear importance by Arab-Muslim doctors through out centuries, including Ibn Sina and Abdeslam El Alami. Its pathophysiology remained poorly understood in the general philosophical framework established by Greek doctors. Nonetheless, the Arab-Muslim doctors individualized by their expertise and experiences to have access to adequate treatment, and have distinguished the internal and external hemorrhoids. They also noticed the role of treatment of constipation in pathology and used a set of recipes made from natural resources they were able to reach such as plant, animal, metal, stone, incense. The prescription of these drugs was according to rules and scientific measures by describing the specific quantity of these medications accurately and warning the side effects as well as the indications and contraindications; and more importantly, using experimented medicines. Furthermore we must notice the scientific integrity in Avicenna and El Alami who gave creditand assigned each formula and scientific data to their authors (Hippocrates – Galen – Roman -al Antaki). each of Ibn Sina (360 AH / 970 AD – 428 AH / 1036 AD) and Abdeslam El Alami (1246 AH / 1830 1323 AH / 1905 AD) had recours to surgery in case drug treatment failed.but Abdeslam El Alami exceeded certain therapeutic methods mentioned by Ibn Sina as bleeding and the cuppingtherapy and warned against cauterization by chemical medicines, and this is due to the big era (9 centuries) that separated the two doctors. Finally, we must seriously think about the tools and means to explore our Moroccan heritage through medical studies on books and manuscripts that are in the corridors of libraries, and direct research towards them historically and scientifically, and make more efforts to introduce the Moroccan doctors, depending on the possession of means and mechanisms, notably the Arabic language which must be given more importance in our faculty;in both studies and research; to question the traditional texts and build bridges of dialogue and communication with our history,so that we could reach a conscious openness to the world
